If total signal power at the first mixer stage of the spectrum analyzer exceeds the 1 dB compression point, inaccurate amplitude amplitude measurements and spurious intermodulation products can result. The unit enables the spectrum analyzer user to make accurate measurements over a wider range of signal environments by significantly attenuating undesired out-of-band signals, reducing energy from high amplitude, short duration pulses and minimizing the total number of individual signals present at the analyzer input.
